Let the Media Frenzy Begin!

Ok, so it's not quite a frenzy yet, but it's a start! Yesterday morning I had the pleasure of sitting down with Steve Lindsley of KEX radio. He is doing a story on film finance and wanted to speak with someone who is currently in the throws of raising money to make a movie. Needless to say I was flattered that he thought of me, and gladly accepted! My hopes is that this will be the first of many interviews (Steve and I are already talking about the next one, and hopefully some face time on TV will be in my near future!) that will bring attention to our project and inspire people to contribute to our fundraising efforts.

I don't have exact times as to when the news story on "Meet Jane Doe" will air, but here is what Steve told me: "...it should begin after 9 a.m. today (5/27/2010), and will run during Friday's morning drive. KEX has news at the top and bottom of each hour. I can't tell you exactly when it will run. We also have a story , photo and link at our website, 1190kex.com. The longer version of the story will run, Sunday. I'll let you know the times of the Sunday Magazine Show when I get it all done."

Tune in today, tomorrow, and Sunday and hopefully you will catch it. I am sitting at my desk with earphones on as I type this!

Meet the Homewreckers!

Meet Gina (Sibyl Lazzara). She is the group's manager and pretty much runs the show. That is, as much as Ruby will allow her too. Gina is the group's choreographer and musical advisor, as well as a dancer who has been with the group since the beginning. She knows she needs to tiptoe around Ruby - and she keeps the other girls in line. But when push comes to shove, will Gina be the one who sells her out?

Meet Jenny (Michelle Damis). She spent the majority of her adult life working as a dancer at a local strip club trying to put food on the table as a single mother. That is until she was discovered by Gina, and allowed into The Homewreckers family by Ruby. As part of the hottest ticket in town, Jenny has left her stripper days behind her. Or so she thinks...

Meet Sarah (Meredith Adelaide). Off stage she is sweet and shy - unassuming. Yet when she steps foot on stage she is transformed into a shining member of The Homewreckers. Sarah is the least likely to stand up to Ruby - grateful for the opportunity given her, she puts up with the abuse and accepts the fact that Ruby will never thank her for a job well done.

Meet Emily (Rachel Klein). She loves her job - the dancing, the costumes, the attention. And she is willing to go to any extremes to protect it. Emily knows she has a good thing going, and wants to keep it that way. Emily is the most recent addition to The Homewreckers, and has no beef with Ruby. As long as she is getting to perform on stage to a packed crowd, she's happy.

Let the Fundraising Begin!

Last night we hosted our fundraising kick-off party at Grand Central Bowling and had an amazing turnout with some fabulous folks in attendance, and I was overwhelmed with the response to the teaser trailer. Lots of positive comments and feedback. We raised over $3,300 last night - got a call from an unexpected source this morning, pledging the bulk of that amount. I cried. I am truly blessed. Yes, I have worked hard to get to this point, but it has been a true labor of love!

I just hit the "Launch" button on our Kickstarter page. View the teaser trailer in the comfort of your own home and make sure you watch the cast and crew interviews! Hear what people that are close to the project have to say about it - it's pretty cool:

At Long Last - DANCER AUDITIONS!!!

Part Lady Gaga, part Liza Minnelli, with elaborate costumes, hair and make-up. Reminiscent of old school German burlesque shows - dark, sultry, sexy. (please note there is NO nudity)

Seeking 3 women, roughly 5'2" - 5'6", over the age of 21 to play burlesque dancers in our SAG Ultra Low Budget feature film. Must be able to dance in character shoes. Looking for women with a solid dance background, preferably in jazz/hip-hop/ballet. Gymnastics experience a plus! Rehearsals will be 2x per week (Sundays 5-7 pm and Tuesdays 8-10 pm) for 2 months, beginning May 18th. There are 2 big production numbers in this film! Shoot will take place at Dante's in mid-July. These are also speaking roles - so dancers need to have acting experience as well. Bonus points if you can sing.

Auditions will be held on Saturday May 8th at 5 pm sharp. Email your Headshot and resume for consideration. jacqgaul@gmail.com.

Thank you!

We Got a Party Coming Up!

Meet Jane Doe Teaser Release and Fundraising Kick-Off Party
Sunday, May 2nd, 2010
7 PM - Midnight
Grand Central Restaurant and Bowling Lounge
808 Southeast Morrison Street
Portland, OR 97232

Last night I had a bunch of MJD cast and crew members over to my house for pizza and beer (yah, I'm nice like that) and coerced them all in to getting in front of the camera and answering questions about why folks should invest in Meet Jane Doe. I knew I had a lot of support, and that everyone thought the project was a good one - but I was seriously OVERWHELMED by the compliments and comments. The energy and passion that was present was INSANE. I was almost brought to tears on a few occasions - and that says a lot. I am NOT a big blubbery cry-baby. Everyone really had their own reasons for supporting this film - but the comments that made my heart grow three sizes were the ones about the screenplay in general. When you write, you hope that your words are understood and that you are able to put on paper what you imagine in your head. Concensus is that I was able to accomplish that. Any doubts over whether or not my screenplay is award-winning have been put to rest.

But I digress - I want to talk about our big party coming up. On Sunday May 2nd we will be gathering at Grand Central Bowling Lounge and Restaurant to show the teaser trailer and those amazing interviews I mentioned above. We will have a DJ and karaoke and merriment will be had by all. If you feel so inclined to donate a buck or two to the movie, you could very well be rewarded handsomely - our giveaways include a party pack from Widmer Brothers Brewing, a gift certificate to Grand Central Bowl or Cupcake Jones, and more. We will have investor packets on hand for anyone who wants to get involved on an Executive Producer level. Basically it is our coming out party! And I hope to see YOU there!

We are (almost) official!

Yesterday was a crazy busy work day for me. I spent the day researching and filing all the paperwork to become an official Motion Picture Production company! I am proud to announce that all paperwork has been filed, and we are now (almost) officially JackSpeed Productions, LLC- a partnership between Jacqueline Gault (MJD Writer/Director) and Andrea Speedie (MJD Producer/AD).

What does that mean? Well, it's the first step to getting our SAG Ultra Low Budget status.

It also means that we are making a commitment to make many more films once MJD is put to bed. A whole heaping pile of movies, if we can! Soon we will have our production company site up and running at JackSpeed Productions.

Thanks again to all who have believed in us and help our hands along the way. You know who you are. I'm giving you a big ol' virtual hug right now!
